Last night I went on my ride - a - long with Jon. It was good for us. I got to see why so many nights he comes home later than expected. First we went to sign the insurance papers so I can go along any time for the next 30 days. I met his dispatcher, Paul, Jon introduced us and the first thing I said to him was "So you are the reason I don't get sex every night." He laughed. Our load was supposed to be ready at 4:30 but we had to wait for a back haul from Harrisburg. He was carrying pallets we needed for our load. So we waited and waited and finally at 6:30 Jon was backing his bobtail into the trailer and hooking up. I was surprised at how bouncy the ride was. It is a powerful feeling sittin so high and being in something so big. I have a new admiration for my husband like I do for anyone who has a career that I know that I do not have the fortitude to do. We were treated by nature with a lovely rainbow on the way. At our first load we were detained a bit because the pallets were stacked stupidly and they had to do some damage control. While Jon did that stuff I kicked back and read my book. I can see myself riding along with him more often once the kids are grown and away at college. We are hoping it can be a once a month thing if we can get people to babysit. We talked alot about real stuff and about nothing. We enjoyed each other's company. The best part was on the way home. On the last streets before we dropped off the truck. We were joking about something ridiculous relating to us. A silly what if game. Then I said "Seriously, if you stay on this track, we can just stay married to each other forever." He glanced at me with a smile and with sincerity in his voice simply said "Sounds good to me".
